Kollel At Rachel’s Tomb, Bethlehem, Israel Passes Education Ministry Inspection With Perfect Score!

A Ministry of Education religious studies review this week confirmed that the kollel at Rachel’s Tomb met 100% of government standards for recognized Torah institutions.

The kollel, a full-time Torah study program for married men, operates daily within the Rachel’s Tomb complex — one of Judaism’s most sacred sites, where tradition holds the Matriarch Rachel is buried. For over 3,000 years, Jews have turned to Mama Rachel in prayer, and today her resting place remains a center of pilgrimage and learning.

Inspectors evaluated attendance, curriculum, and learning standards for all full-time students. Officials reported a perfect pass rate, affirming the kollel’s educational and religious standing under Ministry requirements. The designation ensures continued government recognition and support for the program.

The Israel Heritage Foundation helps with donations from time to time and supports Torah learning at holy sites across Israel. Rabbi Katz, the Foundation’s Executive Director, visits the kollel during his trips to Israel and has witnessed the intense dedication — the hasmadah — of the students firsthand.

“To see these men learning with such fire, day after day, beside Mama Rachel — it’s deeply moving,” Rabbi Katz said. “This is where the voice of Torah rises uninterrupted. We’re honored to help ensure it continues for generations to come.”

Founded to preserve and strengthen Jewish heritage, the Foundation sees its work at Rachel’s Tomb as central to its mission: sustaining prayer, learning, and connection at the places that shaped the Jewish people.
